Westworld is an American science fiction and dystopian television series created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. The plot of the series is based on the film of the same name produced by HBO (written and directed by Michael Crichton) in 1973. The story begins in a fictional, technologically advanced Wild West-themed amusement park inhabited by androids. The park caters to wealthy guests who want to experience the terrifying worlds of the Wild West and the Middle Ages.
